U10 League Match Sunday 26th Apr 2009.
Kick Off 10.15 AM.
F.C Chippenham Youth 1 Trowbridge Wanderers A 0
Two minutes from the end and Marcus Fenton lit up an otherwise uneventful match with a superb long range strike assisted by a lovely pass from Alex Bowers to take the 3 points and seal 4th place in the league for the FC Chippenham Youths.
The last match of the league season for FC Chippenham against their rivals for 4th Place was always going to be a tight affair and so it proved to be. Chances in the first half fell to Matt Kirtley after 5 minutes with a free kick just outside the area and then Marcus Fenton had a shot well parried by the Trowbridge keeper onto the post with Harry Vickers and Sam Costain just missing putting the rebound away. Some good defending by the Trowbridge number 5 against some good passing and attacking play by Kieran Fitzwater, Harry Vickers and Marcus Fenton saw the first half finish nil nil.
The second half saw some more pressure from Chippenham with Harry Vickers and Alex Bowers both getting in good positions but were frustrated by the Trowbridge keeper. With 2 minutes to go Tadgh Feerick’s long goal kick found Alex Bowers who slid the ball to Marcus Fenton in the middle of the field. Marcus took a touch and let fly with a 20 yard dipping shot that smashed in between the keepers outstretched hand and the crossbar for a superb goal.
A last ditch attack by Trowbridge was cut out by Sam Fieldhouse triggering a Chippenham counter attack and substitute Will Summers had the last kick of the game with a shot that was saved again by the Trowbridge keeper.

U10 League Match Thursday 23rd Apr 2009.
Kick Off 6.45 PM.
Trowbridge Town A 0 F.C Chippenham Youth 0
Nil - Nil does not tell the story of a superb match played in a great spirit and with a delightful display of quality football from both teams which was a credit to the standard of the Mid Wilts Blue Division.
Both teams had chances to steal this match as the attacks ebbed and flowed but in the end a draw was a fair result. Trowbridge always looked dangerous on the attack particularly from corners but also some superb linked up passing created opportunities which they were not able to convert due to the work of Chippenham defenders Matt Kirtley and Sam Fieldhouse who together with keeper Tadgh Feerick are holders of one of the best defensive records in the league.
There were first half chances for FC Chippenhams Harry Vickers and Sam Costain, and Trowbridge had a free kick and several corners but neither side could break through. The quality of the tackling was superb and neither team gave the other time on the ball. The last chance of the half fell to Chippenham with a free kick but the shot went just over. At half time both teams were feeling the strain of playing at such a pace under the heat of the evening sun and the spectators were looking forward to another very entertaining half.
The second half saw more pressure from Trowbridge on the Chippenham goal but they could not find a way through. One effort saw a one on one with the Chippenham keeper coming out and the shot was put just wide of the post. FC Chippenham had the best chance of the half when a pass from Kieran Fitzwater put Marcus Fenton through for a clear shot on goal which was low and on target but superbly saved by the diving Trowbridge keeper. In the 18th Minute Trowbridge had a corner which was delivered perfectly in to the Chippenham box, the Striker found the space and made a good connection with the header but it was over the crossbar. Almost in harmony the sun went in as the referee blew to call time on one of the best displays of the season and both managers should be very satisfied that their players had given everything but just couldn’t find that missing piece to separate the teams.

U10 Match Report
U10 League Match Thursday 9th April 2009.
Kick Off 6PM.
Devizes Town 0 F.C Chippenham Youth 4
A bright but chilly Thursday evening at Devizes Town football ground was the venue for the second encounter of the season for these two teams in the Blue Division.
Devizes had some encouraging attacks right from the first whistle and Chippenham were unusually untidy at the back and lucky not to concede a goal in the first five minutes. Devizes had a free kick for a foul challenge just outside the area. It was struck well but whizzed just wide of the post and Chippenham were let off.
After 8 minutes and a little against the run of play Chippenham opened the scoring when Marcus Fenton received the ball after some good passing between Harry Vickers and Matt Kirtley in midfield. Marcus turned and immediately fired a long range shot that flew into the back of the Devizes net. Two minutes later Chippenham keeper Tadgh Feerick launched a goal kick into the middle of the Devizes half, Fenton trapped the ball superbly, and in one move turned and fired again with superb accuracy and stunned Devizes with another spectacular goal to make it 2 nil. Devizes aware of the threat from midfield got tighter marking but in a midfield tackle just minutes later the ball broke loose for Fenton again in the same spot and the Devizes defence could only watch inevitably as the technique was repeated and the ball flew into the back of the net for the third time. A stunning hat-trick in the space of 5 minutes put Chippenham into a commanding 3 nil lead which they took to half time.
At the break substitutes Alex Bowers and Toby Ferguson came on. Chippenham despite players in some unfamiliar positions did play most of the second period in the Devizes half although Devizes made some quick breaks and Sam Fieldhouse in the Chippenham defence did very well to block these. Devizes had a couple of free kicks in dangerous positions but were unable to convert, including a goal line scramble that was scooped away by Feerick who got injured in the process. Shortly afterwards in what was an untidy half Kieran Fitzwater received a good ball from Toby Ferguson, skipped past a defender and drove the ball into the bottom right of the Devizes goal. Will Ferguson then replaced Will Summers to make his debut in the league and took up position in defence where he immediately found himself in the middle of the action. Chippenham then lost 2 players in quick succession when Matt Kirtley and Kieran Fitzwater both got winded in separate incidents. Devizes sensed an opportunity and made one last push to get a goal and the pressure created a goal mouth scramble which was scooped out by Chippenham keeper Feerick who himself got injured in the mix.
A last minute free kick on the edge of the Chippenham box gave Devizes a great chance. After careful setup for the kick and with the Chippenham box and goal line full of Devizes players the strike was good and on target but was pushed over by Chippenham keeper Feerick. The resulting corner went out for a goal kick and that signalled the end of the match with FC Chippenham earning a valuable 3 points.
