U10 Match Report

U10 League Match Sunday 26th Apr 2009.
Kick Off 10.15 AM.
F.C Chippenham Youth 1 Trowbridge Wanderers A 0

Two minutes from the end and Marcus Fenton lit up an otherwise uneventful match with a superb long range strike assisted by a lovely pass from Alex Bowers to take the 3 points and seal 4th place in the league for the FC Chippenham Youths.
The last match of the league season for FC Chippenham against their rivals for 4th Place was always going to be a tight affair and so it proved to be. Chances in the first half fell to Matt Kirtley after 5 minutes with a free kick just outside the area and then Marcus Fenton had a shot well parried by the Trowbridge keeper onto the post with Harry Vickers and Sam Costain just missing putting the rebound away. Some good defending by the Trowbridge number 5 against some good passing and attacking play by Kieran Fitzwater, Harry Vickers and Marcus Fenton saw the first half finish nil nil.
The second half saw some more pressure from Chippenham with Harry Vickers and Alex Bowers both getting in good positions but were frustrated by the Trowbridge keeper. With 2 minutes to go Tadgh Feerick’s long goal kick found Alex Bowers who slid the ball to Marcus Fenton in the middle of the field. Marcus took a touch and let fly with a 20 yard dipping shot that smashed in between the keepers outstretched hand and the crossbar for a superb goal.
A last ditch attack by Trowbridge was cut out by Sam Fieldhouse triggering a Chippenham counter attack and substitute Will Summers had the last kick of the game with a shot that was saved again by the Trowbridge keeper.
