Lying 3rd and 4th in the league table the first encounter of the season for these two teams promised to be a very tight contest and that was how it turned out. Both teams had chances in the first half , Chippenham with a free kick on the edge of the area but after 20 minutes neither team was able to make the breakthrough and they went in at the break nil nil.
After the break Chippenham had a good spell of pressure and looked like scoring particularly on corners, but ten minutes into the half a lapse of concentration at the back let Melksham through and they took their chance with a good strike.
Chippenham responded well and created opportunities but unfortunately could not get the reward and it was not to be their day.
The two sides are set to meet again in 2 weeks in the quarter final of the cup and promises to be a thrilling game.
